How Ecodek Corrugated Pallets are build specific to your product:Manufactured to high quality standards, our Ecodek Paper Pallets are not only economical but strong as well. Made from extremely durable corrugated material, our corrugated paper pallets provide the strength necessary in today's volatile shipping environment.
Each Ecodek Paper Pallet is custom made to fit the individual application, as opposed to the application fitting the pallet. Just because a customer is using a 48x40 wood or plastic pallet does not mean they need or can use a 48x40 corrugated pallet. The actual foot print of the product (plus an inch in some cases) should be the actual size of the pallet needed. The weight capacity of the corrugated pallet depends upon the loading pattern of the packaging units (boxes, bags, trays, etc.) that are used with the pallet. Total weight capacities can vary and no minimum weight capacity is expressed or implied. Collecting as much information about a product’s packaging, most importantly the foot print and weight, allows us to determine what material to use when engineering a customer’s corrugated pallet. |

We have many different types of constructions and styles of corrugated pallets, some of the variations include:
Top Deck
The top surface of the pallet is called the 'top deck'. This can consists of the following:
|
Support- Block Style
The center supports that we call 'blocks'. This pallet is typically the less expensive of all our types of pallets we manufacture:
- Ecodek blocks are a proprietary design, engineered to maintain its integrity even if a fork tine were to puncture the block.
- Usually 4-way entry.
- Most average size pallets have 9 blocks.
- The total compression strength “rating“ of 9 blocks is over 10,000 lbs.
- The compression strength of a single block at 50% humidity is 1300 lbs.
- The capacity of the pallet will also depend on the selection of deck material and the footprint of your product.
- Block style pallets work well with pallet jacks.
- Blocks can be constructed in various sizes meet any requirements.
Support- Runner Style
The center supports that we call 'runners', also referred to as 'stringers', are generally used in constructing pallets for heavier applications.
- The height, thickness and length can vary.
- Typically a 2-way entry, but we can make gaps in the runners to allow for pallet jacks or forklifts.
- Stringers are made using laminated triple wall corrugated.
- Typical pallets are 2, 3, or 4 stringer designs.
- The corrugation direction of the deck is perpendicular to the runners.
- Best style for heavy, flowable loads.
- In 2014, GreenLabel packaging has begun manufacturing notched runners. These create a 4-way runner style pallet, which is visually similar to the standard 48x40 GMA wood pallet.
Combination
- This is usually when Stringers and Blocks are used together.
- The size of the blocks reduces the fork entry areas of smaller pallets.
- Using thinner stringers on smaller pallets may lead to stringer or deck failure.
- Using blocks in the center, and stringers at the sides, improves stability.
Bottom Deck
- No-bottom deck pallets are not double stacked in transit or in the warehouse, or the pallets are double stacked on a very even surface. You can use pallets jacks with no bottom deck.
- Full double wall bottom deck: This adds stability to the pallet when being stacked. You cannot use a pallet jack with a full bottom deck sheet due to the pallet jacks wheels hitting the sheet.
- Full triple wall or a heavy duty triple wall bottom deck: This adds even more stability to the pallet when stacking on an uneven load and also used in most cases when the customer is using conveyers.
- Window bottom deck: Similar to a full double wall bottom deck, however these sheets have die-cut holes simply allowing for pallet jacks.
- Strips: These are used on a runner style pallet, only giving the pallet more stability.
Reversible Pallet
- This consists of a design using the same top and bottom sheet.
- Generally designed this way so the pallet becomes a reversible corrugated pallet preventing production workers from using the pallet incorrectly.
- Also used when the pallet is stacked on an uneven surface, calling for the top to be as strong as the bottom of the pallet.
Special Features
- Corrugated pallets can be made in corner-cut or round shapes.
- Pallet sizes up to 60 X 96” in any size.
- Pallet blocks or stringers are flush with edges, or recessed (wing or lead edge) style.
- Bottom deck choices: none, boards, solid sheet, or die cut sheet.
- Ecodek blocks are a fixed size of 8” long, 6” wide and 3 ½ high.
- Custom blocks can be any height, length, or width.
- Pallet stringers can be any height, length, or width.
- Various options available to assist high tension strapping applications.
Generally pricing is based on full truck load quantities. If a customer is ordering multiple truck loads, we are then able to discount the price by having our sheet manufactures discount our cost of the raw materials. Things that add cost to a pallet are as follows: Up grading material, adding blocks to a design, usually anything more than (9) blocks, thicker, taller runners, stronger bottom deck, adding paint or labels also adds cost.
To recap, all of our Ecodek Paper Pallets are custom made to fit each application and to work with each individual customers shipping environment. There are many different styles and types of corrugated pallets we can make. Gathering as much information from the customer as possible is the key to a proper design of a paper pallet. If we can stress one thing it is that corrugated paper pallets cannot be racked. The only way you can rack a corrugated pallet is if the customer has some sort of decking in their rack system such as wire decking, or wood decking. The only other option a customer would have is they can use a wood pallet, or plastic pallet under our corrugated pallet to act as a slave pallet when racking if there is no decking.
